Customer Reviews

Great Product, Makes Shaving FunI am not a shaving enthusiast at all. I don't shave with a straight razor or use shaving soap. This is based on use with Harry's razors and shaving cream. Not advertising or promoting their product, just stating what my setup is.The construction is good. It has what looks and feels like a nicely finished wooden handle/base with the company name on the side. It has a small thin metal ring that looks like it's helping to hold the badger fur in place. As far as I can tell, it's real badger fur. Since this is the first time I've ever used a badger, I have nothing else to compare it to. However, I will say that the experience of shaving with a badger in general makes shaving more fun. The fur feels stiff yet soft. It is much easier to lather your face with a badger than your hands. It's so much better. When I use it i let it soak in warm water for a few minutes to soften it, then i squirt some shaving cream into an old mug and i work up a good lather in the mug then i just apply it to my face. I use a swirling motion and a wiping motion to apply it. I find doing it this way makes the lather very even and full. Once i'm done shaving the first round, there is plenty of lather to apply a couple more times if i really want a close shave. Once I'm satisfied, I just rinse out the mug and use the badger to wipe out the mug while cleaning the badger in the process. It rinses out really well and a good squeeze will wring out the majority of the water.I know they are supposed to do this, but sometimes hairs come out of it and end up on my face or the sink. From what I understand that is pretty normal. With this particular badger, it's not excessive.Overall I'm very happy with this product. I would definitely buy another one and recommend it to a friend.5I beg you not to make the same mistake as me...Around December I decided to switch to wet shaving due to being tired of getting horrible irritation from any other form of shaving. I made the mistake of not doing as much research as I should have and wound up on the page for this brush due to the fact that it had such good reviews. I also got a few other popular products to begin my shave den such as Proraso Green, my Merkur 34C, and a decent brush/razor stand. Those turned out to be fantastic, the brush, however, turned out to be a disaster. Not only did it seem like a disaster, I also felt completely swindled into buying a totally crap product. On my very first shave, I may not have known exactly what to expect, but I knew I had watched enough videos on YouTube about loading a brush and creating a lather to know that the Proraso puck shouldn't have been caked with "badger hair" from the knot. I also use the term badger hair lightly. After using several different brushes at this point and knowing what REAL badger hair looks, feels, and smells (yes this is important) like, I am very hard pressed to believe that this vendor is telling the truth when they say 100% badger hair in the product description. Please, please, please do not waste your money on this product.**New wet shavers and old alike, if you are looking for cheaper options (like me) for brushes, this is not your answer. There are plenty of other cheaper brushes that work wonders and will last you for ages. Some of these options can even be found here on Amazon. Check out Omega boar brushes. I got an Omega 10066 boar hair brush after this piece of crap and I still use it almost every day even though I have several different brushes now. Above all just do a little research about this stuff if you are new to wet shaving of thinking about getting into it. Don't waste your initial investment like I did, and don't let bogus products like this one take away from the enjoyment you can get from a good old school shave!1stick a badger in your faceI have only used the brush once but thought I would go ahead and write a review. This is my first shaving brush and everything that I read made it clear a badger hair brush is the way to go. I've seen a lot of other brushes made of a lot of other material but I've passed them by regardless of price because I wanted to get one brush and love it. I found one badger hair brush that was about half the size of this brush which, by the way, is probably a standard size brush which is a good size to me. so don't assume all brushes are the same size. The badger hair bristles did feel good on my face. I think I'm not using very good soap so although I can't blame the brush for the amount of lather I got. It was enough to shave comfortably, but my face did not look like it was covered in Cool Whip. After rincing the soap out of the brush, I noticed that the water was cloudy, almost brown. I don't think the brush was dirty or there was badger poop in the water, but I'm guessing there is a breaking in period for the brush. After shaving a couple strokes I rinsed my razor out and noticed that I had apparently grown badger hair because that's partly what rinsed out of my razor. Again, I'm sure there's a breaking in period and those loose hairs will get worked out.I'm sure I'll be happy with this brush for a long time and after looking at all the brushes and brush sets I think I chose the best one for the price. Rather than purchase a shaving brush stand I nailed a little picture frame holder to the side of my medicine cabinet and put a screw eye into the handle of the brush so I can hang the brush from the side of the medicine cabinet. It would have been nice if the packaging was a little more interesting or even included tip sheet on shaving.4Don't believe the good reviews!First off this was my first shave brush and I have since purchased several other brushes. This brush sheds like my dog after winter is over. Gets in all of my creams and sticks in the soap. It is hard to load because it has no backbone and the bristles are exceptionally floppy. Bristles are not soft and can irritate my skin if I face lather with it. I purchased this brush in October of 2016 from Amazon and it has already lost half of the hair, and I will be contacting them to see if I can get a refund.1
